Cheney's shot hits hunter
Wounded man is 'stable' in Corpus Christi hospital
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and wounded a companion during a weekend quail-hunting trip in Texas, spraying his fellow hunter in the face and chest with shotgun pellets.

Harry Whittington, a millionaire lawyer from Austin, was in stable condition yesterday in the intensive-care unit of Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial, according to hospital spokeswoman Yvonne Wheeler.
