Planning Office 2007?

I'm going to be on tour starting for tomorrow. I'm visiting Athens, Zagreb, Warsaw and Vilnius talking about Unified Communications and Office 2007 and running some demos and hands on labs. So I've been reading up on some of the things I'll be demoing

Exchange - Virtually

Ok, So Jamie has moaned at me as I've been blogging about everything BUT Exchange recently and he wants me to go back to my true love. (Sorry - I didn't think I'd been THAT unfaithful!). Here's a selection of what you can virtually do with Exchange 2007:

Girly Geeks at ITForum

I've been chatting to the Organisers of ITForum and whinging about why they were planning to hold a Woman in Technology event, and a Girly Geek dinner for TechEd Developers, but not for TechEdITForum. Why not ITForum. Surely there are women in Infrastructure

Control your virtualised environments

The lovely Dave told me about Appsense , and as I've been getting up to speed with Softricity recently, I thought I'd take a closer look as the two seem to go hand in hand. The bad thing about Virtualised applications is that they start to hog memory

New Powershell book

I met Scotty at my Exchange 2007 TechNet session last week. Scotty is a bit keen on Powershell. I'm a lot better since I discovered the Tab key. I type Get-U and press the Tab key, and all of the words beginning with U are presented to me. Fantastic.

There are too many Sundays in October this year...

And it's affecting your Outlook calendar, and it will mess up your daylight savings if you don't apply the hotfix says Paul . So what? Well if you're running on GMT time (UK time zone) then you stand a chance of your meetings all getting screwed up by

The end of SMS?

Will this spell the end for SMS text messages on your phone then? I was reading the article in The International Herald Tribune about Steve Ballmer talking about the new services that Orange subscribers in Europe will be able to use soon. You can do real

Come over to the Virtual side

Virtual TechEd is now live. TechEd ITForum is sold out and has been for a couple of weeks now, so if you're a last minute sort of person, then you've missed out this year. We've created videos so you can catch up on what's going on at both TechEd Developer

SLAM this on your phone and find a friend

I've always been interested in social networking ever since the early days of chat rooms which allowed me to interact with strangers who were interested in the same sort of thing as me (Technology stuff actually before you start thinking the worst...).

Using Office 2003? Make Sure You're Compatible

Are you using Office 2003 and not yet trying out the beta of 2007? Are some of your colleagues well into testing Office 2007 and moaning at you? Make sure you can open and edit the documents sent to you by colleagues who are using the 2007 Office system.

A new Beta experience for applications

I heard an absolutely brilliant suggestion the other week. One that would take us a couple of years to deliver on, and would require a heck of a lot of co-ordination between all of the product groups, but ever since I heard about this, it's been kicking

Find videos with Blinkx

Hmmm. It's really interesting that we've signed a deal with Blinkx . We haven't bought the company. We've agreed to pay Blinkx an outright licensing fee based on how much use visitors to Microsoft Web sites make of the Blinkx search system which could

Google to buy YouTube

I've been watching the news trickle through the blogosphere, and it's always amazing to see a new story appear and whiz though blogs. This one is about Google and YouTube. Apparently, Google are in talks to buy YouTube (according to this Reuters article

More on Exchange security

Steve tends to focus on security, and I focus on Messaging and collaboration. I tend to leave all of the security topics to him, whilst I focus on my stuff. But our topics do overlap quite a bit, especially with Forefront. I've collated a set of articles

System Center Essentials: Beta 2 released

Flickr plug in for Live writer

I don't usually post photos onto my blog - I find that they're a hassle to do as I hate HTML. I need to go into the HTML interface, find the part of the post to add the image. I then need to add the <img src> tag (or whatever it is) into my blog.
