Photosynth

I like the idea of virtual roaming.  To be able to go on tour without leaving my house is a bizarre way of passing the time - but gives me the opportunity to travel without having to book too much holiday.  Photosynth builds on this idea.

Hijacking BlackBerrys

Ooh this is a bit scary.  Paul talks about this potential security issue with BlackBerry devices.  Getting confidential information from a game of noughts and crosses.  BBproxy seems like something you don't want on your corporate

Waiting for Vista

Steve has been busy creating another piece of Machinima to follow on from his Staying patched clip.  It's over on Youtube. So what is machinima? The word itself is a portmanteau (mashup) of Machine and Cinema, and we’ve been using concepts like this

The Exchange wiki

KC blogged about a fantastic new tool that they're playing with in the Exchange team.  The Wiki.  (Which means quick in Hawaian apparently).  I've reproduced her post in full...   We threw up a wiki for beta 2 to experiment with

Creating a line in a document in Word

This is a nice tip and one I didn't know...   Create a line across the page of your Microsoft Office Word 2007 or Outlook 2007 document with just a few keystrokes. At the beginning of a new text line, type three consecutive hyphens and press

Instant messaging - anywhere

A lot of us are trying to get our heads around Web 2.0 and how it will affect the way we work on the web.  People are driving the web - not the other way around.  Think about commenting on blogs, subscribing to something on a Wiki - this

Emily contacted me as she was having trouble setting up direct push on her Exchange 2003 Server.  Could you point me in the direction of some instructions on how to set up exchange 2003, ISA 2004 and mobile 5.0 to enable direct push email?

Voice spam: How to stop it

I really love this idea.  We've been working on a tool to stop voice spam.  You know, those annoying calls offering to give you a better deal on your cell phone, a free kitchen, a credit card that pays you just for using the card.  I

Mike has been bugging me to blog about this, and because I didn't do it immediately, he's blogged about the beta version of Live writer is now available for you to download.  I've been using Live writer to do these posts for a while now.

Boy Geeks and Girl Geeks

I've just bullied my team in going to the next Girly Geek dinner in London (Each boy needs to be invited by a girl).  We get so much out of these events (without actually having to work at all).  There are so many interesting women there from

Adding Speech to Office Comunications Server

I know that Speech Server isn't directly in my technical area so to speak, although I've mentioned it from time to time,  but with the inclusion of Speech Server within Exchange Unified Messaging, and now with the announcement  in the news that

Failed to register Service Principal Name for exchangeRFR; error code c10379bc.

I noticed this today - from the demo's that I've seen, it's certainly worth evaluating.  Tony also has lots of other useful information over on his blog as does David The System Center Virtual Machine Manager public beta announced by

Exchange 2007 ignite training

I've just finished delivering 2 days of Exchange 2007 training to a group of Microsoft Certified Trainers from across Europe.  It's called Exchange Ignite training (Ignite the interest / ignite the spark / ignition).  There were 18 MCT's in

System Center Operations Manager Beta 2

...I really like the new name for MOM v3.  System Center sits well with me.  it describes what the product is supposed to do, look after your system. Microsoft Operations Manager was a little too vague for my liking, because IT operations can

Smartphones more popular than PDA's

I'm completely in agreement with this report.  I've got a pocket PC and also a smartphone, and I do 70% of my work on the smartphone after testing both of them.  We've had to make a choice for one of the new 3G devices which are on the way soon,

Plasma or Diamonds

Sorry.  I really don't agree with this.  I'd MUCH rather have a diamond necklace.  Who the heck did they ask?  Surely women in Technology can't be that geeky can they?    Ladies.  help me out here... which would you
