A waste of a day

Another day off. My conscience’s nagging me about it. And now it’s muted.

The World Cup fascinates me. I’m not sure why. I usually don’t even like watching soccer. Yet, I find myself intensely fixed on the TV with every match. Hmm.

Oh, I wish I could say more. Soon, I promise. Soon.

After a bit of lackluster play, England successfully defeated Trinidad & Tobago, 2-0, putting England into the round of 16. T&T played excellent defense for most of the match, but England’s constant prodding finally surpassed that defense.

The substitutes for England were phenomenal. I hope Wayne Rooney gets more playing time next match.

Contemplations

Sometimes I sit & stare at this site. I stare, wondering if what I want to write qualifies as good enough [I know, shocking].

To me, it seems as if this site has a subtle motif, only recognized subconsciously. When I think of what to write, I immediately know whether or not to put it here. And I usually listen to myself.

Except this time. I have so much to say; so many thoughts run through my head, especially this late at night. But instead of writing, instead of acting, I simply say, “No, that won’t do” and forget about it.

The other day a pro football player was involved in a motorcycle accident. He wasn’t wearing a helmet because his state allowed riders to choose. The injuries he sustained could’ve been prevented had he worn a helmet. Since then all I’ve heard is noise, people saying that it was foolish of him, etc. What they haven’t been saying is what’s been running through my head over & over:

It’s his choice. More than likely he had contemplated the consequences of choosing to ride with no helmet, and had been willing enough to risk those consequences. Simply, he came to terms with his decision.

Now it’s time for the media & fans to understand this. Everything is always fine until tragedy strikes. Everyone is in control of their own lives & make choices for themselves. It’s not our place to criticize & try to understand; it’s our place to support someone the most in their time of need.

Tonight was a frustrating night, for many reasons. Some questions remain unanswered, while new ones have been asked. Hopefully, answers will appear soon.

Oh… go support Brian. He needs it.

Work, U.S. loses

IMG_0588 I finally got home from work. Charge 11 hours to the boss, please.

Last night Andy, Erin & I went to downtown OKC to walk around & snap some photos.

It’s nearly time for a vacation.

At lunch I caught some of the soccer game. What a disappointment. U.S. Soccer looked like a JV squad playing the varsity: disorganized, sloppy, no gameplan… and worst: no energy. I’m ashamed.

But hey, they’ve got at least two more games to play, including a tough one against Italy on Saturday. And they can win.

Tomorrow should prove to be a good day. Cheers.

Playing catch-up

Finding a new title for each post is so tedious.

I got a bike. It’s nice, I love it. The gas mileage is great, and it feels so good to ride. I’ll have pics soon.

My friend Matt bought himself a new boat for the summer. He was able to get it at a great price, and it’s in great shape. I’ve got some pictures of it. I can’t wait to go to the lake.

I’ve been trying to stay busy with work & such. Both jobs are a bit hectic right now [changing responsibilites at the restaurant], and I’m starting to search for a new morning job again. It’s time I got paid. My friend works in a pharmacy & makes killer wages, and he said they’re hiring. I’ll give it a shot.

Some things are developing, and depending on how they turn out, I may elaborate more.
