Directions

From Dundalk take the N52 south and turn onto the R178 almost immediately. Take the third right hand turn and continue for around 1.5km. There are signs directing you to the motte that point up a track on the left hand side just after some sort of army base gateway. Walk up this path and look into the field on your right and you will see the stone.

From the map it appears that this stone should be visible from the road, but it isn't. High hedges and the fact that it is just 90cm tall prevent this.

The best way to see it is to walk up the path to Castletown Motte, it is about 75m up the path on the right, 15m into the field.

It is quite a stumpy little stone some 60cm along each side.
