Party Critters: Do you want this PCO's support?

This is it. The presidential campaigns have begun.

Actually, they started with the election of PCOs in the Primary back in September.

Now, the Parties have been dissolved by law following the general election; they will be reconstituted when the PCOs elect new leadership starting in December.

Do you, Mr. or Ms. Party Leader, want my support? Would you like me to actually help you, by smiling and dialing or some other way, to get elected to the position you desire?

You're running for political office, and I expect you to campaign. I want to hear from you. Below the fold my questionnaire.

Relationship between campaigns and the Party

  • What is the relationship between campaigns and the Party?

  • Is the Party more than a recruiting and fundraising tool for campaigns? Why?

  • What, if anything, do you feel needs improvement in terms of the relationship between campaigns and the Party at the present time? Why?

  • Does more need to be done to defend the Party's own identity and existence separate from campaigns, and if so what would you do?

Campaign finance reform

  • Do we need campaign finance reform?

  • Do you support publicly financed elections?

Consideration from campaigns for services and information of value

  • What valuable services and information does the Party furnish to campaigns?

  • Does the Party receive adequate consideration in return?

Respect for privacy

  • What is the "right to privacy"?

  • How does technology affect the right to privacy?

  • Is the right to privacy an issue for the Party?

  • Does the right to privacy have indirect impacts on the members of the Party (other than as members of society)? What are those impacts?

  • What is the balance between privacy and political campaigning?

  • What impact is technology having on this balance?

Organizational management

  • Do you have management experience? Describe it.

Organizational structure

  • What is the Party's current managment paradigm?

  • Is the Democratic Party the "Party of cats"? If yes, do you herd cats? If no, what is it and how do you manage that?

Managing issues

  • Can the Party deal effectively with all of the issues of the day?

  • What happens internally to the Party when it fails to deal with issues?

  • How can the Party evolve and adapt to deal with these dynamics?

Managing change

  • Do you have any exposure to formal project management?

  • What is the difference between a project and a campaign?

  • Give examples of both projects and campaigns which involve the Party.

Technology and the organization

  • What technology does the organization need?

  • Have we been successful in integrating technology into the organization?

  • Are the impediments to integrating technology technical or managerial? Please explain.

Technology and issues

  • What is your personal level of interest and enthusiasm for science and technology?

  • Given that personal level of interest and enthusiasm, what approach or philosophy allows you to successfully lead on issues with a technical component?

Is great, candidates should answer it.
Sucks and is a waste of time.

 Sergeant Ricky Clousing
We Americans have found ourselves in a pivotal era where we have traded humanity for patriotism. Where we have traded civil liberties for a sense of security. I stand here before you sharing the same idea as Henry David Thoreau: as an American, and as a Human Being, we mustn't lend ourselves to that same evil which we condemn." Quoted from:
