IT'S MY PARTY

ATP goes democratic

17 Nov 2006

Masking the fact that ATP may just have run out of musical luminaries who might be willing to spend a sodden weekend on the English Coast, the festival has announced that those attending the second weekend of ATP 2007 will be able to choose the bands for half of the line-up.

There's bands already confirmed, of course. Built To Spill, Sparklehorse, Akron Family, Notwist, Echo & The Bunnymen, Do Make Say Think have already committed to play. But presumably the rest will be left to you: the good people who shell out your hard earned shillings to sit in a chalet talking about obscure indie bands with the only other people in the country who care.

There's gonna be some complicated voting process involved so I'll let ATP press release explain the finer points:

"Here's how it works. When you buy your tickets, you will be given details of a website. The person who actually buys the tickets will log into a page where they will be able to email out voting forms to each person in their apartment.

Each person then needs to use that form to submit their top ten bands.

Each week, the received votes will be tallied and listed on www.atpfestivval.com in order of popularity. ATP will then start asking bands from the top of the list, down. Please note that this means the earlier you vote the more your vote will mean."

ATP have also reminded fans that they cannot raise the dead or perform relationship counseling with bands that have already split up.

The event will take place on May 18th - 20th at Butlins Holiday Resort, Minehead.

I’m voting for Nick Drake ten times - TALK!
