Jarvis Meets CSS...

SubtitlePulp star joins hot Brazilians at The ForumSubject MatterBodyWhat happens when the hottest band of the year meets a genuine Britpop superstar? One of the finest gigs of the year, that's what! Mtv.co.uk joined an ecstatic audience for Brazilian funster's Cansei De Ser Sexy (CSS) at The Forum in London last night for the last night of their tour and a very special performance. For their encore, they were joined on stage by Jarvis Cocker for a rendition of their track Alcohol. Introducing him on stage, gorgeous lead singer Lovefoxx said ?Sometimes we call him a friend, sometimes we call him a lover, tonight let's just call him Jarvis!?. The band ended a triumphant gig with no less than two rendition's of L7's classic 'Pretend That We're Dead'. Ably supported by Shy Boy and The 1990s, this was the last of a long stretch on the road for CSS. Lovefoxx celebrated by wearing her entire wardrobe on stage and taking one layer of for each song. Her usual stage-diving antics were on full display and everyone in the packed venue was left shouting for more. Thanks to our friends at www.rizla.co.uk for an amazing night. CSS to Play With Brit Pop Star...

Rizla are hosting hosting an exclusive one-off gig with Brazilians CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy) featuring a cameo performance from ?one of UK music?s most popular artists?. Taking place at The Forum in Kentish Town this Friday (8th December), the gig looks like being one of the hottest tickets in town and everyone is being very secretive about who the guest is. Apparently CSS were asked by Rizla, to choose their most inspiring musician to perform with at the finale of their London show. The identity of the inspiration is being kept a closely guarded secret, but is claimed to be ?a bona fide Britpop icon". Lead singer, Lovefoxx says of the gig: ?When Rizla first approached us about who has inspired us and would like to play with, we never really thought it would happen as this person is such a legend and we?re so new to the UK music scene. We now can?t wait to entertain London with an unforgettable kick ass show. It?s been an amazing year for the band and this is a really special way to round it off.? So who is it? Sarah Harding Takes a Beating...

The sexy star, who insisted on wearing a brown wig to help distance herself from the role, was keen to point out that it doesn't mean she?ll be shirking her responsibilities with the band ? despite a lot of recent coverage which says otherwise. "The other girls have done magazine shoots," she told The Sun, "I just wanted to do something different. I only had to take three days out of our schedule to learn my lines and then a day to film it." Perhaps inspired by the girls' new heist style video, which can be seen on Overdrive by clicking here, Harding will be playing a sexy bit on the side in new gangsta Brit flick Runners With Cars. But the glam ends there, as she's set to take one hell of a beatin in the gritty movie, including being smacked full on in the face by her female boss. You voted, we tabulated (it’s slow work with an abacus). The tallies are in and Pearl Jam takes the title of Best American Band of ‘06 by a wide margin. In second place we have Red Hot Chili Peppers. My Morning Jacket comes in at numero treis. Tied for fourth (and demonstrating the weird and wonderful variety of tastes y’all have) are the Strokes and Tool. Rounding out the mix at number five: TV on the Radio. Impressive! Is This Man the Greatest Metal Vocalist Ever?...

According to Hit Parader, which has compiled a list of Heavy Metal’s All-Time Top 100 Vocalists, Robert Plant is the best singer the metal world has ever heard (get the full list after the jump). Also in the top ten? Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Queen’s Freddie Mercury, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson, both Ozzy (who would be our pick for #1) and Ronnie James Dio and um, Steven Tyler. Right there you start to get the sense that this list of metal vocalists is more like a list of any vocalists. Kurt Cobain, who is apparently a necessary part of any list of rock icons, no matter what the parameters, comes in at #20. Who Are The Top 25 Women In Rock?...

As we type, a collection of the entertainment industry’s most powerful women are celebrating each other over tea and croissant in Hollywood. Every year the Hollywood Reporter hosts this breakfast event, in conjunction with the publication of their Women in Entertainment Power 100 issue, on newsstands today. In it you will discover all kinds of shocking bits of info - like the fact that Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, and Renee Zellweger all make shitloads of money per film (Kidman’s $17 million per film puts her at #1 ahead of Witherspoon who scrapes by with a piddling $15 million). We’re as fascinated by Hollywood as everyone else, but let’s face it; even Lindsay Lohan can act. We want to celebrate the ladies with real talent - the rockers. Who are the 25 most powerful, influential women in rock. So Madonna is obviously at the top. Also up there? Debbie Harry, Karen O, Amy Lee, Gwen Stefani … who else belongs on this list?
