With a covered area of 73,000sqm, ASPIRE is the largest multi-purpose indoor sports dome in the world. Designed by the famous French architect Roger Taillibert, the ground-breaking ASPIRE opened its doors in November 2005.

Part of Sport City, ASPIRE houses an indoor athletics stadium, a 6,000-seater football stadium, Olympic-sized swimming and diving pools, and seven multi-purpose sports halls.

The 15th Asian Games will use only part of ASPIRE's wide range of facilities, which are primarily used by the ASPIRE Sporting Academy.

Some 165 students from all over the world are now studying and training at the Academy. They will also in the future live at the Academy full-time. This number is expected to increase to more than 1,000 over the next two years.

Events:

ASPIRE will host badminton, wushu, wrestling, kabaddi and boxing. Gymnastics will take place in the indoor athletics stadium.

A temporary velodrome has been built on the indoor football pitch to stage the track cycling events.

Location:

Adjacent to Khalifa Stadium in the Sport City, 8km to the west of Doha.
