     "Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope"
Archdiocese of Milwaukee Response to Hurricane Katrina

Recognizing the massive destruction of Hurricane Katrina last fall, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee has developed a diocesan-wide response to provide assistance to those in the Gulf Coast region. "Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope" is a comprehensive effort that has been created through the work of a task force to develop and maintain a relationship with Our Lady of the Gulf Parish in Bay St. Louis, Miss., part of the Diocese of Biloxi. Father Paul Esser, a retired diocesan priest, will coordinate "Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope" for the archdiocese.

Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan commented, "The generosity of the people of the archdiocese to last fall's hurricane disaster was overwhelming. We cannot forget the people in the Gulf states now. It is clear that the needs are towering, far greater than any one parish could meet. The people there need prayers, money, and hands to help rebuild."

A special collection will be held in parishes (March 25-26) and in schools (March 28) to provide monetary support for recovery efforts. Information on contributing to the diocesan effort, volunteering in the Gulf Coast region, and establishing a volunteer team is available at this link on the archdiocesan web site.
