Midnight Double Header Monday 05 March
Idlewild
Summer Sundae 2002
Taking their name from the quiet meeting place in the novel Anne Of Green Gables, Scottish rockers Idlewild formed in Edinburgh in 1995, the original line-up being Roddy Woomble, Rod Jones, Phil Scanlon and Colin Newton. A year of steady touring preceded the release of the band's debut single, Queen of the Troubled Teens, which immediately found favour on UK radio. As word spread of their chaotic live shows, the group released the albumHope Is Important, and then 100 Broken Windows, followed by a US tour in early 2001. The next year saw the release of the album The Remote Part, with the singles American English and You Held The World In Your Arms scoring massive hits in Europe and making the album Idlewild 's most successful to date. Here they are with an excellent set from The Summer Sundae Weekender  2002
