Sagrada Familia parish, supported by the people of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, is located in the poorest, desert area of the island. The parish center is located in the village of Sabana Yegua and includes 27 rural communities. There are upwards of 37,000 people within the parish boundaries. Therefore besides the pastoral ministries of the parish, much attention is given to the social needs of the people. These include health, education and housing. In addition, because there is a prison within the parish area, ministry there is significant.
