For a third consecutive day, Baghdad was spared a car bombing or attack bringing mass casualties, but a Shia newspaper editor and a police officer were gunned down, and U.S. artillery could be heard across Baghdad after nightfall. U.S. forces also reported finding a series of weapons caches around the capital.
