Three new casinos are being proposed for Atlantic City.

The Press of Atlantic City reported recently that a $3 billion resort would replace the aging Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, and that Trump's partner in the deal would be Steve Wynn, the casino impresario and former Trump rival who left the city more than a decade ago. His year-old Wynn Las Vegas resort has just earned five stars from the Mobil Travel Guide and five diamonds from AAA.

In another casino development plan, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Atlantic City bigwigs Wallace R. Barr, the former chief executive of Caesars Entertainment Inc., and Curtis Bashaw, a former head of the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, were to close on a deal to buy 11 acres of Boardwalk property for a new casino.

Also, Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. has agreed to buy the Sands Casino. The Sands closed Nov. 11, and the new owner plans to tear it down and replace it with a new casino.
