Fishing and charter boats

Capt. Lou Fleet

Sailing roughly 11 months out of the year, the Capt. Lou fleet of 85-foot fishing boats offers anglers of all skills the chance to reel in the big catch of the day.

The boats roam the Great South Bay and Atlantic Ocean in search of various types of fish. Depending on the season, you can cast your line in hopes of hooking fluke, flounder, porgies, sea bass, mackerel and more.

There are half-day, full-day and night fishing trips available.

Freedom Boat Club

Own your own boat, sort of.

At the Freedom Boat Club, a national "members only" group, members can choose from dozens of boats to sail.

Members don't actually own the boats. But, they also don't have to worry about maintaining the boat, paying for sloop space, insurance and everything else that comes with boat ownership. Members do have to pay for the gas they use, though.

Just take the boat out, enjoy yourself, bring the boat back and be on your way. Easy-on, easy-off boating.

There are various types of membership plans available. And if you are a member in Freeport, and you just happen to be on vacation and walk by a Freedom Boat Club in Virginia Beach, Miami or any of the 50 clubs nationwide, you're part of that club, too. There are also clubs in Oakdale, Port Jefferson and City Island.

For more information, call 1-866-392-6287 or visit http://www.freedomboatclubny.com.
