Additional ineligible sellers may be added. Please check the Amazon.com Web site at http://www.amazon.com/gc-legal for the most current list. 5. Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned for a cash refund, except to the extent required by law.
  6. Any unused balance will be placed in the recipient's gift certificate account and is not transferable. The original expiration date will apply to any unused balance.

Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description
Amazon.com gift certificates can be used to purchase almost anything in our store, including most items sold by Marketplace sellers and Amazon Merchants (except The Bombay Company, Circuit City, Eddie Bauer, Newport News, Nordstrom, Spiegel, and Ultimate Outlet Brands). For more information, see the Fine Print above. Sending E-mail Gift Certificates: When sending e-mail gift certificates, please be aware that some e-mail programs may block or even delete e-mail messages which originate from an address not specified by the recipient as an accepted address. All Amazon.com e-mail gift certificates are sent from gc-orders@a2zgiftcerts.amazon.com. If you are concerned that your recipient may have e-mail filters turned on, you may want to send or reissue the gift certificate to your own e-mail address and then forward it to them or print it out to give to them. Redeeming Gift Certificates: When you enter the certificate's claim code for the first time, the certificate is automatically redeemed onto your account, and this information is logged into our database, even if you don't place an order at that time. After you have entered the claim code once, you do not need to enter it again--even if you back up and change other information in the course of placing your order. If you receive an error message that the gift certificate has been redeemed, and the funds are not being applied to your order, it could be that you have more than one Amazon.com account, and that the funds are redeemed to one of your other accounts. Questions about purchasing or using a gift certificate can be sent through our Contact Us form online.

Charged but not issued an e-card gift certificate, July 5, 2007
By Prudent Shopper "$" (Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews
I tried to get a gift certificate for my manager, who was leaving the company. My first credit card was refused, so I gave a second credit card, which was approved (the charge is on my statement). Understand my chagrin when I contacted my manager (a few times) and found out he had not recieved the card! I've contacted my credit card company twice to verify I was charged the money, and I contacted Amazon twice, only to hear that the transaction had been cancelled due to a problem with the credit card. I let them know the exact time and date that my credit card company said that the charge had been approved, but they had no record of it. Amazon is now checking with my credit card company, but I can't say how dissappointed I am with this experience - I expected this to be so easy and quick, and normally Amazon comes through with flying colors on all their orders, but not this one.

Amazon used the certificate, cancelled the order, keeps the money, July 1, 2007
By John Ocallahan "jackocall" (Greenvile, Rhode Island) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was given a gift certificate, tried to use it to buy a bicycle. Amazon applied the certificate and then the order was cancelled due to an unavailable stock problem. Amazon has not refunded my gift certificate for over two weeks in spite of four emails and two promises that I would receive a refund in 1 or 2 workdays. I have been told that this was a tech problem. It seems that they don't have a problem taking my money easily and quickly but can't do the same in the opposite direction.

Envelope looked like junk mail, June 18, 2007
A Kid's Review
My parents sent my relative a gift certificate by snail mail. He almost threw it out because the envelope looked like junk mail and did even not say amazon.com. However, my relative was very happy to get the gift.

Worked like a charm, May 30, 2007
By S. Williams (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews

Must be one of the lucky ones. Everything worked perfectly. Sent it to myself. Was in my email junk account in 2 minutes after payment. Printed it out and mailed to my graduate. A little extra effort, but at least I know where it is!!!
