Enhancing Your Title's Listing on Amazon.com

Having your titles listed on Amazon.com is a great way to find new subscribers. But did you know that the more information and images you provide customers, the more likely it is they’ll become subscribers? To help you enhance your title’s Amazon.com listing – or detail page – we’ve created a checklist with steps to take to ensure that you’re providing customers with everything they need to make an informed decision as to whether to subscribe to your title.

What is a detail page?

A detail page is your complete listing on Amazon.com. It’s where customers go to see cover images, pricing, descriptions, customer reviews, and more – and it’s ultimately the place where most customers will decide whether to push the buy button to subscribe. It’s easy to find – just search under your title in our search engine in the magazines store, and click on your title in the search results.

What if I can’t find my detail page?

If you’re having trouble finding your title on Amazon.com, it’s possible that it’s not yet listed with one of the agents we work with. To find out more about having your title sold on Amazon.com, please visit the Magazine Publisher Services section.

If you know that your title is supposed to be on Amazon.com, but can’t find it, please send an email to magazine-publishers@amazon.com describing what title it is you’re looking for, and which agent you’re listed with. We’ll help you try to find your detail page – and correct the problem so it’s easier to find the next time around.

Checklist for Success: Enhancing Your Detail Page

Since the magazines store opened in 2001, we’ve noticed that there are certain key ingredients that help to generate subscription sales. Without them, a detail page is just a detail page. But by using the checklist below, you can enhance your magazine’s listing on Amazon.com, helping customers to find out more about what your magazine is all about – and helping to facilitate that all-important decision to subscribe.

1. Find your magazine’s detail page

Using the search box on Amazon.com, type in the full title of your magazine and find the correct detail page for your title. We have a large selection of magazines at Amazon.com, so please note that there may be more than one title with a name similar to your publication. Verify the details on that page to be sure you're looking at the right one.

2. Know your magazine’s ASIN

Go to your magazine’s detail page, and under “Product Details,” find the 10-digit alphanumeric ASIN for your product. This is an Amazon-specific, unique identifier which is crucial to completing the other steps listed below.

3. Check your magazine's title

The title of a product on Amazon.com is a crucial component of how customers will find your magazine. Please make sure that your title is correct; if it is not, please send an email to mag-descriptions@amazon.com with the ASIN and how you’d like the title to appear.

4. Verify your magazine’s terms and pricing

We currently receive our catalog information from either Synapse or Magazine Express, a division of Ebsco. If you see any inaccuracies in the pricing, subscription term, or publisher information, please contact the agent who represents your magazine. For more information, visit the Magazine Publisher Services section.

5. Upload your cover image

Does your magazine’s detail page have a cover image? If so, go to step 6. If not, use Vendor Central to upload an image. If you don’t have a Vendor Central account, request one by clicking here to send an email to mag-images@amazon.com. Be sure to include your ASIN in the email.

Once you receive the details for creating and logging in to your account, you'll be able to find out more information about the specifications required for images loaded to Amazon.com.

6. Update your description

Did you know you can send us a description for your magazine directly, of up to 250 words? Please send your description to mag-descriptions@amazon.com. Be sure to include the following information:

- The magazine's intended audience
- How often this magazine is published
- The types of topics covered in each issue
- Critical acclaim
- Credentials of the writers or editors, if appropriate

Please note that publisher descriptions may be edited for clarity, spelling, grammar, and punctuation, if necessary. Amazon.com reserves the right to edit descriptions which will be posted on detail pages. Please also note that you will not receive any feedback from Amazon.com about your submissions. If the material meets our specifications, it will appear online within approximately three weeks. If the material does not appear by that time, please review these instructions and consider resubmitting your material.

7. Upload additional cover images

Do you have a few back issue cover images you’d like customers to be able to see? Using Vendor Central, you can upload up to 6 images which will appear via the “See more images” link next to your primary cover image.

8. Encourage customer reviews

Get your subscribers talking – encourage them to write customer reviews which will be posted on your detail page, and which will give potential subscribers more information on what they can expect from your magazine.

9. Enhance your browse listings

Customers who browse on Amazon.com will find your magazine more easily if you help us to place it in relevant browse nodes. You can see which browse nodes your magazine currently resides in by going to your detail page and scrolling down towards the end of the page to “Look for similar magazines by subject.” To find out what other browse nodes are available, click on "Browse Subjects" in the navigation bar above. Send your requested browse nodes to mag-descriptions@amazon.com.*

10. Enhance your search terms

Customers who search on Amazon.com will find your magazine more easily if you provide appropriate search terms by which customers should find your magazine in a search. Choose wisely - we can only accept up to 10 search terms, so make sure you're choosing the ones that are most relevant to your title. We’ll then attach those terms to your magazine, to make it easier to find. Send your requested search terms to mag-descriptions@amazon.com.*

* Amazon will consider all browse node and search term requests, but we reserve the right to reject any that in our judgment are inappropriate.
