Information: Pope John Paul II, Born to Eternal Life -- Resources for Schools

Having received the news that our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has been born to eternal life, we are inviting the children and youth in our parishes and schools in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to join the whole Church in prayer on the occasion of this special time that calls us together as one.

It is the custom of the Church upon the death of the Pope to pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory to the Father a number of times. The recitation of the Rosary is also encouraged for the deceased Pontiff.

Below are two simple prayer services for the students in your school or in your religious education or youth ministry programs:

A Prayer of the Children and Youth of the Church for Pope John Paul II
You may wish to use this to pray together as a parish school or parish religious education or youth ministry community or to copy this prayer service for your teachers or catechists to pray with their classes. Here is a link to the prayer that includes a downloadable PDF of the prayer at the bottom of the page:

A Prayer for Pope John Paul II for Families
You may wish to send this prayer service home for families to pray together. Here is a link to the prayer that includes a downloadable PDF of the prayer at the bottom of the page:

We hope that these are helpful ways to gather your communities to pray together. If there is any other way we can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to call us at 414-769-3363.

Thank you and may God continue to bless you in all you do for our children and youth.

Yours in Christ,
The Department for Educational and Formational Services
