Benoît Assou-Ekotto (born March 24, 1984 in Arras, France) is a professional Cameroonian footballer currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur.

Assou-Ekotto played 34 of RC Lens 38 league games in the 2005-06 Championnat before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2006 for an undisclosed fee (believed to be in the region of £3.5 million). His first game in Ligue 1 was against PSG on the 28th March 2004, Lens won 1-0. During his 66 games in Ligue 1 he failed to score.

Described by Tottenham Sporting Director Damien Comolli as one of the brightest prospects in French football, Assou-Ekotto arrived at Tottenham to provide competition at the left-back position.

After a series of poor performances and since picking up an injury in December 2006, he appears to have lost his place in the first team to his predecessor at left-back Lee Young-Pyo.

He is related to fellow professional football player Mathieu Assou-Ekotto.
