'''Richard Rampton QC''' (born 12_April 1936) is a leading British libel lawyer. He has been involved in several high profile cases, with his defence of Deborah_Lipstadt and Penguin_Books against David_Irving among the most famous. In this case, he represented them against accusations of Libel after Lipstadt accused Irving of being a Holocaust-denier. He also represented McDonald's in the McLibel_case, where the company sued two determined but impecunious protesters.
Rampton's earlier cases include Andrew_Neil (editor of the Sunday Times) vs Peregrine_Worsthorne, Lord Aldington vs Count Nikolai Tolstoy and Gillian_Taylforth vs News_of_the_World. He also successfully represented George_Galloway MP against the Daily_Telegraph over claims he took £375,000 from Saddam_Hussein's Iraqi regime.
Educated at Bryanston_School and Queen's College, Oxford_University, Richard Rampton was Called_to_the_Bar in November 1965 (Inner_Temple) and was appointed a QC (Queen's_Counsel) in 1987.
