Ever the perfectionist, Neil Young is taking yet more time to complete the first volume of his long-awaited "Archives" series. The Reprise project was originally expected in the fall but is now due to appear in early 2008, according to sources.
As previously reported, "Archives" is expected to feature eight audio CDs and four DVDs of unheard material, including material cut with Young's early Canadian band the Squires, recordings from the period during which he lived in Topanga Canyon, Calif., and a live disc drawn from a week's worth of concerts from the Toronto venue the Riverboat.

German duo Modeselektor has drafted Radiohead's Thom Yorke and members of Maximo Park to guest on its second album, "Happy Birthday!," due Sept. 11 via BPitch Control. The eclectic album also boasts appearances by Puppetmastaz, Paul St. Hillaire and French rap outfit TTC, among others.

Henry Rollins will join specially reformed U.K. punks the Ruts live on stage on July 16, at a benefit gig for guitarist Paul Fox and the Cancer Research charity.
Ruts bassist John "Segs" Jennings and drummer Dave Ruffy will be back together with Fox for the first time in many years at London's Carling Academy to raise money for the guitarist, who is suffering from untreatable lung cancer, and his family.
Original Ruts singer Malcolm Owen died from a drug overdose in 1980, which marked the end of their career with Virgin, although the band continued as Ruts DC and Fox stayed active on the music scene. Also in the lineup for the show are late 1970s punk contemporaries Tom Robinson, John Otway, the U.K. Subs and Splodgenessabounds.
