About the GTK+ team

GTK+ has a large development community, as can be seen by the lists of contributors in the GTK+-2.10 release announcement. However, there are some people that can be identified as responsible for one piece of code or the other. These people are listed below.

Note: please do not contact GTK+ team members directly about problems you are having compiling or programming with GTK+. Such discussion belongs on the GTK+ mailing lists. Even discussion of the development of GTK+ itself usually belongs on gtk-devel-list. Bug reports should be submitted to bugzilla.

Jonathan Blandford <jrb@redhat.com>

Maintains: GtkTreeView (along with Kristian). Wrote GtkTreeView originally.

Matthias Clasen <mclasen@redhat.com>

Maintains: gdk-pixbuf, GtkUIManager, documentation. Works on almost all parts of Glib and GTK+

Tim Janik <timj@gtk.org>

Maintains: GObject. Long-time core GTK+ maintainer.

Tor Lillqvist <tml@iki.fi>

Maintains: Win32 port of GTK+.

Federico Mena Quintero <federico@ximian.com>

Maintains: new GtkFileChooser. Past maintainer of gdk-pixbuf. Long-time bug-fixer.

Kristian Rietveld <kris@gtk.org>

Maintains: GtkTreeView (along with Jonathan), GtkComboBox. Wrote GtkComboBox, completion support for GtkEntry, GtkTreeModelFilter.

Søren Sandmann <sandmann@daimi.au.dk>

Maintains: GtkToolbar, default appearance of GTK+. Has done a lot of work on user interface details of things like GtkMenu.

Owen Taylor <otaylor@redhat.com>

Maintains: Pango, X11 port of GDK, core widget system. General dogsbody.

Sebastian Wilhelmi <seppi@seppi.de>

Maintains: Glib thread support

Other credits

Peter Mattis started it all, with help from Spencer Kimball and Josh Macdonald. Marius Vollmer taught us how to make GTK+ work for language bindings. Lars Hamann and Stefan Jeske added all sorts of features to the core widgets. Carsten Haitzler designed and did the first implementation of theme support. Shawn Amundson did release management for GTK+-1.0 and GTK+-1.2.

More recently, Havoc Pennington created the GtkTextView widget based on the Tk text widget. Elliot Lee and Alex Larsson wrote the linux-fb backend. Erwann Chenede added multihead support to GDK and GTK+. Padraig O'Briain and Bill Haneman wrote ATK and fixed up GTK+ for accessibility. Hans Breuer continues to contribute enormous amounts of useful work on the Win32 port of GTK+. Murray Cumming and James Henstridge keep us honest in language binding support. Abigail Brady, Sivaraj Doddannan, Dov Grobgeld, Karl Koehler, Theppitak Karoonboonyanan, Noah Levitt, Eric Mader, Roozbeh Pournader, and Changwoo Ryu are just a few of the contributors to Pango.

And finally, thanks to all the translators of the GNOME translation project who have translated the GTK+ user interface and, more amazingly, all the property descriptions into over 60 languages.
