The athletic 6-foot Montreal native, who averaged 3.2 points a year ago and saw his minutes decrease, had his appeal approved by the NCAA and will be eligible to play for Donnie Jones' team in 2007-08.
"I'm very excited that I won't have to sit out this season," Altidor-Cespedes said. "I had a great experience at Gonzaga, but I just felt as though after graduating, I had accomplished everything I could academically and basketball-wise at Gonzaga."
Altidor-Cespedes, who graduated in May, started 14 games this past season and had a season-high 14 points early in the season against Baylor.
This is a huge boost for the Thundering Herd, who also added Tirrell Baines and Matt Walls for this season and Purdue transfer Chris Lutz.
Look for Altidor-Cespedes to anchor the backcourt and team will swingman Markel Humphrey to form a potent combination for Marshall this season.
"Coach Jones is a great guy and he recruited me out of high school when he was an assistant at Florida," Altidor-Cespedes said. "I just felt it was a great opportunity."
