Ben Howland is assembling arguably his top recruiting class since arriving at UCLA.

The Bruins head man, who has taken the program to consecutive Final Four appearances, secured a verbal commitment from talented in-state wing Jrue Holiday on Tuesday, according to sources close to the situation.

The 6-foot-4 Holiday averaged 23.1 points, 9.4 boards and 6.4 assists for Campbell Hall (Calif.) as a junior and is ranked No. 5 in the country by Scout.com.

Holiday, who also considered Washington, joins a stellar recruiting class that also features a trio of other in-state standouts: guards Malcolm Lee (Riverside North), Jerime Anderson (Anaheim Canyon) and big man Drew Gordon out of Archbishop Mitty High in San Jose.

Howland's first class in 2004 featured Jordan Farmar, Arron Afflalo, Josh Shipp and Lorenzo Mata.

Holiday, Lee, Anderson and Gordon are all considered legitimate candidates for the McDonald's All-American Game.
