Forms: Catholic Campaign for Human Development Application Information and Form

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is an action, education program, initiated in 1969 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States. The mission of CCHD, to attack the causes of poverty by empowering the poor to create their own conditions of dignity, is rooted in the basic principles of the social teachings of the Catholic Church.

To further the purposes of the Catholic Bishops, CCHD seeks to carry out the church’s option for the poor through the empowerment of poor people; educate Catholics about the causes of poverty; and build solidarity among diverse groups in our society by providing ways for them to engage in the empowerment process.

The primary objectives of CCHD are: to fund projects developed by poverty groups which work toward systemic change, economic strength and political power and to educate Americans about the conditions and causes of poverty.

For 2007, proposals supporting the overall goals of the United States Catholic COnference of Bishops (USCCB) campaign for immigration reform, Justice for Immigrants, will be given particular consideration. Form more information, contact the diocesan director or visit their webpage at: www.justiceforimmigrants.org

Particular consideration will also be given to groups/organizations that focus on empowering youth to break the cycle of poverty and improve conditions in their communities.
