Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach

Marie Freifrau von Ebner-Eschenbach (Baroness Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach), (September 13, 1830 - March 12, 1916) was an Austrian writer. With her psychological novels she is regarded—together with Ferdinand von Saar—as one of the most important German-language writers of the latter portion of the 19th century.
She was born at the castle Zdislavice near Kroměříž in Moravia, Czech Republic, and died in Vienna, Austria. Helene von Druskowitz met her in 1881, and would later be one of the few to receive the fourth book of Thus Spake Zarathustra from Friedrich Nietzsche.

- Note regarding personal names: Freifrau is a title, translated as Baroness, not a first or middle name. The title is for the wife of a Freiherr.
