People always say Sonic is too fast to lose in a fight against Mario. Except Sonic can't actually run at supersonic speeds, that's only in the comic book and anime (and all anime is horribly exagerated). Solution? Mario puts on a cape, takes off, follows sonic from above, and dive-bombs him.

Don't fall for it. It seems unlikely. I'd love to believe it. But that's what they want us to think. I heard a rumor that they released that info on April Fool's Day... Could be cool though.

as for What does Miyamoto mean when he said "we'll see whos faster", this will apply in Hurdles race (if it was included) Sonic is incredibly fast when running, not so much for jumping 'n' running. Unlike Mario, Who's mastered the art of jumping, but not as fast as sonic. This will apply in swimming and other sports as well.

this definitely means sonic will be available on next SSB prolly not SSBB but next one after that.

maybe after this releases and you play it, Sonic will be unlocked/available in SSBB, that would be pretty cool.

and don't even try to say its a bad idea.

This game is going to kick ASS!

Super Smash Bros is a game tributing itself for its achievements. Not Segas. Its for Nintendo characters, or games that started their life with Nintendo. Solid Snake began on the NES. Pokemon was on the GB. Mario on the NES too. You get the point. Sonic is from Sega, and has no chance of being on SSBB. So drop it.

This game seem interesting. But will undoubtably flunk. These games always do.

I've been waiting a long...long time for a game were both Sonic and Mario stared, and all we'll get is a tie-in to the olympics... If the game was made to fit to the games, Sonic whould smash the 100 metre sprint, and Mario would pwn at the swimming... There wouldn't be much compition.

So all we'll be getting is a generic olympic game, probably like Track and Field games just with Mario and Sonic... Still it's not mentioned who is developing. If Nintendo do it in house, it could be good...

no. Sega does what Nintendon't! Bu...bu...buh the Burst Processing. No in all seriousness - Sonic was on the Gamecube, it was kind of only a matter of time. Besides, Sega is owned by different people now who are gutting the franchises for money - welcome to the bright future of Sonic opening himself up to whoever has some money.

At least Shiggy will be there, making sure they don't embarrass themselves.

It will be interesting watching this one play out.

Also, this collaboration of mario and sonic may be a precursor to sonic being in super smash brawl.....

i gotta admit im quite looking forward to this. got a ps3 but you cant fault nintendo for their party games, they always come up trumps. wii sports and rayman raving rabbids are still 2 of my fave games at the mo. sega are still making great games too so def one to keep an eye on.

now i know for a fact that sonic will be in the new smash brothers and so will bonk cause like more then a million people downloaded bonks adventure on the vc so what better place then sbb to bring him back to life.and back to the subject this game could be great if its like all the other mario sports games

It's funny...if something like this were announced a decade or so ago, I'd be exploding with excitement. But now, considering that (a) I'm not a fan of Mario, (b) I have 0 intentions of buying a Wii, and (c) this sounds like it's essentially Mario Party + Sonic Shuffle with an Olympics tie in, this collaboration just isn't too enticing. :/

This might turn out as a great game! I know who will win the running events though. Hopefully they include javelin and all other thinkable and unthinkable things.

SONIC AND MARIO TOGETHER!!! WTF?! HELL HAS OFFICIALLY FROZEN OVER!. I'd say this is definitely the nail in the coffin for anyone thinking sega is secretly working on a new console. Sonic you made me hate mario you benedict arnold,lol. Very cool idea but unfortuntately I haven't owned a nintendo since the original. Wii may be in my future just to get my hands on this historic title.

Sonic will win the running events, Mario will will the High and Long Jump...

Hopefully this bodes well for a Sonic cameo in SSB: Brawl.

This will be the quickest Olympics ever. Mario will still be lineing up at the starting line while Sonic is being awarded the gold medal for all the events and being congradulated for all the new world records hes set.

It could be interesting. If I have any spare cash by the time it comes out (as I have two other consoles to care for, gaming wise) I may pick it up.

Still, I'll give priority to a lot of other things, since I don't care for Sega's Sonic related characters much, game wise (I did enjoy the animated series a while back), and I'm not much of a sports game fan, aside from the typical Madden XX or NBA Live XX/2kX NBA games.

As long as it is about as good as the other Mario Sports, I would like to buy it.

I see Sonic winning most of the track and field competitions, but Mario doing well in gymnastics, and skill games like table tennis.
