For a second year NECC has partnered with Blackboard Inc., a leading enterprise software company for e-Education and an ISTE 100 Member, to launch a series of preconference online forums designed to stimulate interest and conversation amongst NECC attendees. These special electronic learning communities, accessible via this Web site through September 30, feature moderated discussions, virtual presentations, and resource sharing by many of NECC's outstanding presenters and other area experts on the following conference-related topics:
- Distance Learning—covers all aspects of K–12 distance learning from Web-supported classrooms to online courses and includes all methods of digital delivery.
- Leadership—covers technology coordination and administration and includes issues such as security, funding, NCLB, and computer-based assessments.
- Learning From and With the Global Community—provides an opportunity for international educators and educators interested in international projects to share innovations and promising practices within educational technology worldwide.
- Professional Development—covers all aspects of online and ongoing professional development from preservice to inservice to graduate programs and encompasses strategies, models, promising practices, evaluation, and certification programs for ensuring that all teachers, including underserved populations, meet and exceed the NETS for Teachers.
- Student Voices—provides an opportunity to hear from students and to hear promising practices for involving students in creating the learning environments that will prepare them for their future.
- Technology Integration Models—covers hot technologies, strategies, models, promising practices, and evaluation for all curriculum areas, including special populations and traditionally underserved populations.
In addition, this year we have also created a special forum specifically for ISTE's Special Interest Group (SIG) members:
- ISTE SIG Groups—this area is designed for communication among the ISTE Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and will promote discussion about SIG-sponsored NECC speakers and hot topics of interest to the SIG members.
