Student Voices

For many of today's students, technology is ubiquitous in all aspects of their lives but school. Come work side by side with these digital natives as we visualize the future.

Our goal is to give attendees the opportunity to experience what students see, say, think, feel, do, and envision. Here are a number of events at NECC that feature Student Voices; click on the titles for details.

* Deneen Frazier Bowen's Keynote Session
Wednesday, June 29, 8:30–9:45 am, Marriott, Salon G/H

Take a journey into the minds and hearts of today's digital natives. Using recent research, Deneen portrays a riveting cast of characters to reveal the students' struggle to connect what they do in school with what they do in the world.

* Marc Prensky's Luncheon Keynote Session
Thursday, June 30, 11:45 am–1:15 pm, Marriott, Salon E/F

The key to getting today's kids more involved in their schoolwork is not curriculum, certification, or testing, but rather engagement. Prensky argues forcefully that this generation needs more engaging approaches, more understanding, and 21st-century skills. Requires preregistration and an additional $30.
