This was a growth decade for the Logies – more and more stations broadcast the awards and the introduction of colour TV in Australia in 1975 gave them a big boost, as did the number and clout of many of the international guest presenters. The number of awards also grew, from 33 in 1970 to 43 in 1979, reflecting the increasing quality and quantity of Australian programs. It’s interesting to note that there were still awards being given for the best commercial and cigarette ads were still popular!
