Original Sonic Japanese Commercial
Posted August 20, 2006 @ 7:18 pm
The first commerical for the first Sonic the Hedgehog game for the master system. Oh ya, this brings back memories.

Quick Fast Fact: The sound byte "Seeegaaa" at the end of this commerical, was taken and put into the SEGA intro to the sonic game. It was never meant to be there in the first place, but they wanted to fill the rest of the cartridge with something appealing as they didn;t have time to finish a level (which can be accessed through debug mode). The sound byte took up 1/8th of the cartridges total capacity and forced a few things to be taken out, such as an entire sprite sheet of Sonic breakdancing, the artist was furious.

The old design of Sonic was so much better.

I miss when stuff like that was so fun to watch. Now it just ruins the modern cyber-punk-actiony look of Sonic. Then again, the cyber-punk-actiony look of Sonic isn't so great. I miss when he was chubby.

Funny enough that commercial looked like it had the Death Egg from Sonic 2 even though this is meant for Sonic 1, so how did that get into this commercial?
