ATR Calls for Vote by Full Senate on Judge Southwick
Nominee should receive up or down vote, as all nominees should

WASHINGTON –  Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist today joined Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) in calling for an up or down vote by the full Senate on the nomination of Judge Leslie Southwick.

“What every nominee deserves is a straight up or down vote on the Senate floor,” said Norquist.  “It’s time to put aside the partisan politics.  Either vote for or against a nominee, but give them a vote.”

Norquist continued, “Court vacancies are a major obstacle anyone in the justice system must hurdle.  By allowing nominees a straight up or down vote, hopefully those openings will slowly begin to close and the justice system will be able to function properly and justice for those in the system can come more quickly.”

“Senator Arlen Specter is to be applauded for his tireless work in leading this fight for a vote Judge Southwick,” Norquist concluded.
