Snapshot

Visitors are welcome at St Matthew's Church, Mitchelton. The foundation stone was laid in 1867 by Queensland's first Governor, Sir George Ferguson Bowen. Kedron Brook is one of the major creeks in Brisbane and was named by German missionaries. In its early days the creek was described as a fairy-like stream, its banks lined with wattle, ti-tree and flowers'.

Shopping

Forgot a few things at the regular grocery shop? Why not leave the car keys behind and pick up what you need on the way home from the bus stop, or take a walk or bike ride to the local shops. Check the map for local convenience centres. The major shopping centres of Brookside, Chermside and Stafford City are a bus ride away. Stafford City and Chermside Shopping Centre also have entertainment arcades and cinemas.

For kids: check your local playground - parks in Brisbane have anything from skatebowls to toddler play. In your area, try Teralba Park at Everton Park, Mitchelton Park, Gaythorne or Bob Cassimaty Picnic Grounds, Ferny Grove which features a circular path, providing endless tricycle and scooter fun.

For dogs: check out the local off-leash areas where Fido can release canine tension. Try Tramway St at Ferny Grove, Dash and Duggan Streets or Mungarie Street in Keperra or Teralba Park in Everton Park.
