Has Gonzales dodged the bullet?
After much noise earlier in the year, the stories and coverage of U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and his connection to the possible firing of U.S. attorneys for political reasons seems to have all but disappeared.  Is that due to the summer doldrums of politics or has the “get Gonzales” effort run its course?  Will Sen. Patrick Leahy and his committee keep stringing it out in bits and pieces or will the Senator have what it takes to bring the matter to a head?  Is this matter worth half the attention it’s been given already?  Why or why not? Have you already forgotten about it yourself?
Why can’t Fred Thompson commit?
Enough already.  We keep hearing Fred Thompson is all but a declared candidate and sure enough, he’s out trouncing around Iowa last week – still undeclared.  If he hasn’t been able to officially decide by now, could he possibly have the wherewithal to win the Republican nomination?  Is he really just waiting for his TV contracts to run their course so he doesn’t lose a few bucks?  If he can’t decide to get in or not by now, how’s he going to decide on important things when he’s president?
Is the Democratic race already over?
Another day, another presidential debate… this time in Iowa with the Democrats.  Does anyone stand a chance of beating Hillary Clinton?  Is Barack Obama fading?  What’s keeping John Edwards in the race?  Is Bill Richardson just running for vice president?  Why can’t Joe Biden get any traction?  Where do Chris Dodd, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel stand?
An American Union?
With President Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon meeting in a three way summit, rumors have begun swirling around the Internet of a secret effort to create a version of the European Union on the American continent.  Could that be happening?  Should it?  How would it help?  How would it hurt?  What would that do to America’s immigration situation?
Vatican attacks coverage of Italy sex abuse cases
The Vatican’s top diplomat accused the media of “shameful and mystifying” coverage of allegations of sexual abuse by Italian priests and suggested there might be a campaign against the Church.

Why do spouses matter in presidential races?
Rudy Giuliani’s wife, Judith, has had a rough few months adjusting to the role as a presidential candidate’s spouse -.  We’re told Fred Thompson’s wife is taking a hands on role -. John Edwards’ wife is taking shots at Hillary Clinton.  And then there’s Hillary Clinton’s spouse.  Why should we care?  Do they make a difference in a presidential race?  How about once a president’s in office?
A complicated portrait of attitudes toward America's Muslims
Americans are largely accepting of their fellow citizens who are Muslims, but remain worried about radicals inside the United States, according to a new NEWSWEEK Poll — the first the magazine has conducted on attitudes toward Islamic Americans. Forty percent of those surveyed believe Muslims in the United States are as loyal to the U.S. as they are to Islam. (Thirty-two percent believe American Muslims are less loyal to the U.S.) But close to half (46 percent) of Americans say this country allows too many immigrants to come here from Muslim countries.
Campaign money madness
Is it time to stop the insane campaign money race?  This weekend we learned Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton ended the first half of the year with more than $30 million each for the presidential primaries. If this sort of money is required to stay in a campaign, doesn’t America come out on the short end when potential leaders can’t raise that kind of money and compete for the presidency?  Or does it actually help because only true leaders can instill the confidence necessary to raise that kind of money.  Should the public pay for all presidential campaigns instead?  Is there a solution?

From the thread on   "Dancing With The Stars":

"Wayne Newton is really looking ridiculous in his old age. That facelift he got makes him look like a clown. Why would anybody of his talent disfigure his face like that? I hope that he is better at dancing than picking a plastic surgeon. Unfortunately, I see him getting voted off after the first round. Go back to Vegas Wayne."

Last 2 number 1 quarterbacks picked? Last 2 Heisman trophy winners? Need I say anymore? I've actually seen more white quarterbacks get harassed incessantly by the media for not winning. Manning up until last year. Grossman and Carr are 2 more extreme examples. People still think Bledsoe sucks, etc etc. McNabb is a crybaby.— Posted by The_Truth2  Join the discussion
