Picnic in the spring time

An awesome spring day here in New Haven. And an even better spread of egg salad sandwiches, potato chips, and b33r. Not to mention some very interesting conversation with even more interesting people.

Heaven!

Rant on Linux Asia 200x and Linux-Delhi

[[Posted on Linux Delhi mailing list]]

Fond memories at the mention of Linux Asia.. Was it just a year and two ago that we had Smoke on the Water playing till it hurt, and trying to get in to the wifi networks?

Was it the time when the Linux Delhi stall was the best thing which happened since sliced bread? And statistics which really pointed to a higher number of people at the LUG stall than the actual conference itself? All of them couldn't have been the hanger-ons!

Winter mornings and 6am watches on computers and other equipment - late night dinners at defence (colony) establishments (anyone heard from AshLin?) - and funky after parties involving funny slashdot founders and guitar playing hackers?

San Francisco and Stanford

Well.

A beautiful trip to the west coast - a total difference from the cold, dark and dreary weather which seems to characterize the east coast right now. Bright, sunny, and more importantly, blue skies and green trees!

So I was in SF for 4 days, and visited some friends at Stanford. If I had more time, I could probably blog about what I did, and stuff I ate, and how I met up with people I hadn't seen for almost 10 years, or some who I'd only met virtually!

But no. Just these images for you to feast on if you're from the east coast ;)

They bombed our city

3 blasts rock Delhi. About 60 dead. On the eve of what is arguably the most festive season in the country - with the major festivals of Diwali and Id approaching. The whole world condemns the attacks. Terrorists are inveighed against, yet again. Deja Vu?

New Delhi. London. Bali. New Delhi - the sequence of heinous terrorist attacks aren't just limited to these cities. Even during the earthquakes in Kashmir, militants could be seen butchering innocents who were trying to salvage what was left of their lives. And they call themselves 'warriors'? For a 'CAUSE'? Is murdering innocents a fight?

Who am I?

I've just finished being a grad student in Computer Science at Yale University. I now work at Oracle corporation in California. A google search may reveal more pertinent information in case you want to contact me. To contact me for a resume, please use the contact form.

My interests vary over a large domain of things. I've been an avid technologist all my life, and my interests in Technology relate to the Web, Artificial Intelligence, Graphics and Computer Security. Off late, I've been doing work on applying state of the art machine learning and AI techniques through innovative methods to the web.

Image makeover!

Anyway, this idea of running 2 parallel blogs was cool, but not good enough. Reason? Too tiresome, trying to manage comments et al.

Final decision? Give the site a complete makeover, and get a local blog running within drupal.

What I aim to do is, integrate one of my blogs (maybe blogger) with this site, seamlessly. The content can directly be mirrored here, using some kind of content system. I've also activated the categories section, and totally done away with menus and things.

Another cool addition has been the flickr hack, which captures random images from my flickr account and displays them in a cool way. Space saving can lead to so much innovation.

Local Blog is up and running!

Livejournal is cool. And its popular. And lots of people see it regularly.
But I cant seem to not have a blog running on this site as well!

Both blogs now running are actually complemenatary. Whereas the LJ blog is more about personal stuff and events, the one on this site is about my views in general of a lot of things - ranging from politics, the economy, technology and practically anything else which i find is worth ranting about.

Both blog addresses are:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/viksit

and
