Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School is an Armenian-American private school located in Los Angeles, California, USA, and while historically consisting of a large Western Armenian population, has in recent years seen children of Eastern Armenian immigrants particularly from Armenia become a significant percentage if not the majority. The school is K-12, covering both primary and secondary education. Armenian language, history and religion classes are taught in Armenian, and the rest of the classes are taught in English. The school was established in 1969 and was first known as Hollywood Armenian School. The current principal is Dr. Viken Yacoubian. The school has many notable alumni including System of a Down band members such as Serj Tankian. Additionally, many of its alumni go on to four-year universities where they are commonly active in their campus Armenian Student Association. The school has over 900 students. Aside from Serj Tankian, other notable alumni includes softball/Eli Manning legend, Hakop Chouldjian. It offers an extensive and rigorous AP courses and Honors curriculum. The School also offers college preperatory classes. It is extremely difficult to get into the school requring a GPA no less than 4.0 upon admittance. The school has a zero tolerance policy.
