Q. I'm leaving for Alaska soon, can I get my license application expedited?

A. Yes, we can send your license and\or big game tags to you via a courier mail service (FedEx, UPS, Express, etc.). You can either include a prepaid envelope of the service of your choice with your applications or ask that $20.00 gets charged to your credit card.

Q. I've been to several stores and can't find anyone who has the hunting tag(s) I need.

A. We can be reached at (907)465-2376 Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. We will do our best to find a store that has the tag you are looking for. You can also purchase another tag at the same or higher price and use that tag for the species you plan to hunt.

Q. When are the new regulation booklets available?

A. Sport fishing reguladion books are available around mid-April. Hunting regulation books are available around mid-June.

Q. I'm looking for someone I believe lives in Alaska. Can I find out if he or she has a license, and if so can I get a current address?

A.Yes, licenses are public information. Social Security Numbers and telephone numbers are confidential information.

Q. I don't live in Alaska, but my business processes a lot of sport or crewmember applications. Can I become a license vendor?

A. Yes, you need an Alaska Business License to become a vendor. Applications can be mailed or faxed to you. Please call (907) 465-2376 to request a vendor application form.

Q. Do you take credit cards?

A. Yes, we take credit cards for payment. There is a box on the application form for the information.

Q. I am disabled. Are there any discounts or benefits available for disabled people?

A. There is not a disabled license unless you are a disabled veteran who is a resident of Alaska. If you fall into this category, please call for an application. There are also resident disabled proxy hunting and fishing benefits.

Q. Can I purchase a license with food stamps?

A. No.

Q. My son or daughter is 15 years old. Does he or she need a license?

A. Residents and nonresidents under the age of 16 do not need to purchase a sport fishing license. Residents under the age of 16 do not need to purchase a hunting or trapping license.

Q. Where can I get a tide chart?

A. Tidebooks are available at various sporting goods and department stores throughout the state. You may also obtain the Thomson Tide Table by writing Pioneer Publishing Co., P.O. Box 2574, Kenai, AK 99611 or call (907) 283-1990.

Q. Is there a deadline for buying licenses and tags?

A. No, you can purchase license and tags at any time. However, there are some areas within Alaska which is restricted to hunting by permit only. Refer to the Division of Wildlife Conservation's web page for drawing permit hunt deadlines.

Q. Is there a list of guides available?

A. A list of licensed Alaska guides is available for $5. The list includes guide-outfitters and assistant guide-outfitters and the areas for which they are licensed, transporters and commercial use permit holders. To obtain a copy of the list, send $5 in US funds drawn on a US bank payable to "State of Alaska" to:
