Cross-Cultural Experience Program (Scholarship)

Note: This deadline of November 15, 2007 falls outside the normal cycle of the ASA-CSSA-SSSA Awards and Scholarships.
The objective of this scholarship program emphasizes a summer learning and working experience for an undergraduate student to learn more about agricultural sciences and agricultural education through international agricultural programs. It also provides an opportunity for students to live and learn with students of another culture and language. The scholarship is made possible by a gift from the Lewis B. Nelson Fund to the Agronomic Science Foundation and administered by the American Society of Agronomy. The scholarship is in the amount of $2500.
Eligibility- The program is open to an undergraduate student majoring in soils, crops, and agronomy, or closely related sciences.
- The student will have completed their freshman, sophomore, or junior years by the end of spring term 2007.
- Preference will be given to a student that is a member of an SASES affiliated club and who has a major in soil science, crop science, agronomy, or closely related areas.
- Preference will be given to universities that have not had students previously participating in this program.
- Students who have participated in previous programs are not eligible.
- Preference will be given to a study aboard experience that is conducted for four or more weeks.
Nominee Qualifications:
- Letter of Interest
Provide a letter of interest that includes identifying the activity the recipient will pursue, including location, brief description, activity dates, and the cost of travel expenses between the applicant's home base and the scholarship experience site. (Character Limit: 3000) - Resume
Provide a resume that includes major, year in school, and cumulative grade point average. (Character Limit: 6000)
Add References To Nomination
Provide contact information (name, full mailing address, phone, and email) for three individuals who will submit online reference letters.
