It's only been four months since "Brokeback Mountain" first hit theaters in limited release, but for many fans, waiting for the DVD release of the groundbreaking film has seemed like an eternity.

    The wait is over.

"Brokeback Mountain" will be released April 4 on DVD, and it boasts some impressive special features. In addition to being available in both wide- and full-screen formats, the DVD contains "Directing From the Heart: Ang Lee," an interview with the director about the making of the film; interviews with screenwriters Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, who discuss the process of adapting the short story to the screen, and the featurette "On Being a Cowboy."

The DVD also contains "Sharing the Story: The Making of Brokeback Mountain," a behind-the-scenes look at the film in which Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal discuss in depth how they "became" Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist.

Can't wait until Tuesday's release? PlanetOut members can take an exclusive, first look at highlights of the DVD right now!
