While students around the country prepare to return to school after a long summer, Microsoft and Bungie Studios are preparing to drop a bomb on all gamers: Halo 3. Gamers around the world will be able to participate in the epic last battle for human existence, and "finish the fight," on September 25^th, 2007, in one of the most anticipated games of all time!

Sony announced today that the price of the PLAYSTATION 3 is being dropped from $599 to $499. Sony has spent the last few days denying the drop in price, but officials came out today with an official announcement, saying that they expect sales to "double" due to the price drop.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

New York Assembly passed a bill today, May 31st, 2007 that could make it possible to charge retailers who sell an M Rated game to a minor with a felony. Assemblymen from the State of New York were heard discussing the unconstitutional clauses in the law, but then turned around to say that they were voting FOR the bill. The law passed today by an overwhelming vote of 130-10.

Splinter Cell Double AgentDuring the spring, kids and adults alike are outside enjoying the weather. Whether it be playing catch, playing with your little league baseball team, or working out, most people in the United States are outside enjoying the spring and summer months. Since people are outside, and not inside playing video games, sales in the video ndustry dip during these months. As a result, many game companies hold their games from being released during this time of the year. Each year, however, a handful of game companies take a chance by releasing a game during the spring, and these are the big titles that came out this month

CrackdownThere have been some great games out over the last few months, with the biggest highlight (and my pick for Game of the Year) being Gears of War. If you missed that article, you can see it here . Looking to the future is what most people are doing nowadays, so that's what I'm doing with this preview on Crackdown . This game comes out on February 20^th exclusively for the Xbox 360, and will include the much-sought-after invite to the Halo 3 multiplayer beta (the sequel to Halo and Halo 2). The Halo 3 beta isn't the only good thing about this package, however, and I'm going to tell you why.

Video Game RealismIn today’s world, almost every video game that is released has some form of violence. This isn’t just happening now, though; it’s been a trend for a very long time. Ever since Mario, which had the player killing enemies by jumping on them, video games have become more and more violent. As video game consoles became more and more powerful, games also became increasingly violent due to realism (see above). The list of violent video games goes on and on, but this is my list of the best and most violent video games around today.

Last night at midnight, stores around the country opened so that they could sell the brand new PLAYSTATION 3 to customers waiting in extremely long lines. This morning, several nationwide stores opened to sell their preordered PLAYSTATION 3’s, as did a few stores that were doing “lottery” style sales of the PLAYSTATION 3. Here was MY launch day experience!

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent was released on October 17^th, 2006, for the XBox 360. It was developed and published by Ubisoft. The game is also to be released on the XBox, PlayStation 2, Gamecube, and PC on October 26^th, 2006. Splinter Cell Double Agent is the fourth installment of the well known Splinter Cell series, all of which are developed and published by Ubisoft.
