Headache can be due to stress, increased BP, acidity, sleeplessness, tension, eye problem, sinusitis, fever or any other reason. But through various yogic techniques you can avoid and control headaches.

Bhramri Paranayam :
Practice in fresh air and a calm environment.
• Close both the eyes and inhale deeply
• Close ears with both palms.
• Concentrate on Agya Chakra between the eye-brows.
• Raise you head upward.
• Exhale slowly, with mouth closed, make humming sound of a bee, while reciting “OM” mentally. Repeat exercise 10 times.

Kunjal Kriya :
This is used when headache is due to acidity.
• Stand and drink at least six glasses of the lukewarm water, as quickly as possible, until the stomach is full. Then the urge to vomit will occur automatically.
• Lean forward with neck as horizontal as possible. Open mouth and put the middle and index fingers of the right hand as far back on the tongue as possible. Gently rub or press on the tongue. This will cause water to be vomitted out.
• When the flow of water stops, place fingers in the mouth and repeat the process. Continue until the stomach is empty.

Yogic Exercise
• Sit comfortably. Keep head and back straight.
• Stretch face muscles, eyes and head muscles upwards while taking a deep and long breath inside.
• Restrain your breath for few seconds.
• Release and relax. Repeat 5-6 times.

Healthy Tips:
• Apply fresh mudpack or sandalwood paste pack on the forehead for some time, then wash .
• Massage muscles at back of neck, temples or forehead with almond oil or nilgiri oil.
• Maintain regular sleep patterns.
• Exercise regularly. Yoga for at least 30 minutes, three times a week, helps reduce frequency or severity.
• Do not skip meals, and eat a good, healthy breakfast.
• Limit stress by avoiding conflicts and resolving disputes calmly.
• Try to follow a Yogic pattern of life. Have satvik food, i.e. more fresh green vegetables and fruits. Avoid tea and coffee. Add more fibrous food to your diet. Drink at least three and half litres of water daily.
