Yoga
guru Suneel Singh explains a yogic asana, pranayama and diet to get rid of
Asthma.
1. Gomukhasana (Cow
face posture)
Sit in veerasana so that the right knee is directly above the
left knee. Place the left arm behind the back and right arm over the shoulder.
Try to clasp the fingers of both the hands behind the back. Keep your back, neck
and head straight upright. Stay in this position as long as you are comfortable.
And then repeat with the other side by changing hands and leg position. Breathe
normally. Keep your awareness on your
breathing.
Benefits:
Gomukhasan is an excellent asana for asthma. It also relieves back ache,
sciatica and general stiffness in the shoulders and neck. This asana tones up
the chest too.
2. Suryabhedi
Pranayama (Vital Breath)
Sit in a comfortable meditative posture with head, neck and back
in straight line. Close your eyes gently and relax the body. Close the left
nostril with ring finger and inhale slowly and deeply through the right nostril.
At the end of the inhalation close both the nostrils. Hold the
breath for a few seconds, depending upon your capacity. Then exhale from the
left nostril while closing your right nostril with the thumb. This is one round.
Do this for a minimum of five rounds in the beginning, then gradually increase
the number of
rounds.
Benefits:
This
pranayama is useful for the treatment for asthma, low blood pressure,
infertility and worms. It makes the mind alert and perceptive. It also creates
heat in the body.
Caution:
those suffering from any heart problems, hypertension or epilepsy should refrain
from this practice.
3. Watch What
You Eat
People suffering from asthma should avoid foods that cause
excess mucus production such as dairy products, processed food, sugar and any
other product that includes white flour as an ingredient.
