JIMMY PAGE (UK)
LED ZEPPELIN and YARDBIRDS guitarist Jimmy Page was born on 9th January 1944 in Heston. Prior to his time in the YARDBIRDS and LED ZEPPELIN, Page was employed as a session guitarist and performed on many 60s singles in the role. Among the list of bands that Page contributed studio guitar to included NEIL CHRISTIAN & THE CRUSADERS and CARTER-LEWIS & THE SOUTHERNERS.
Page's first attempt at a solo project was writing the music for the Kenneth Anger film 'Lucifer Rising', although - following many delays - Anger dispensed with the guitarists services. Some of the material penned originally for 'Lucifer Rising' made it on to the Michael Winner directed 'Deathwish II' film soundtrack.
Following the 'Deathwish II' album Page busied himself with mixing and mastering tracks for the 'Coda' album of LED ZEPPELIN rarities. The guitarist was conspicuous by his absence during 1981 only showing himself for a one off guest slot with former YARDBIRDS colleague JEFF BECK at his London Hammersmith Odeon show. He was also scarce the following year only joining Plant for an unexpected stage jam with FOREIGNER in Germany. The guitarist's only other appearance that year was in court for possession of drugs...
