While
the vast majority of Oecusse's population lives
in self sustainable farming communities they
always welcome assistance in furthering their
social and economic development. Life expectancy
is very low (dropping to 50 years of age in
some places), infant mortality rates are among
the highest in the world, and literacy rates
are poor There is a range of ways that you can
help...

ESTABLISH
THE MANNER IN WHICH YOU MIGHT ASSIST
by contacting any of the national or international
NGOs operating
in the Oecusse Enclave. They conduct programmes
in water and sanitation, agricultural development,
civil society strengthening, gender issues,
improving dialogue/relations with West Timor
and the Indonesian authorities to name just
a few sectors in which work continues apace.
