Catholic Charities' Persons with Disabilities services was founded over 25 years ago to serve developmentally disabled individuals with a "person centered" philosophy as its foundation. We recognize our clients as whole human beings with the same rights of every person:

Catholic Charities believes that the principles of integration and normalization are the foundation for helping persons with developmental disabilities share fully in the life of society. Our ministry is rooted in Catholic Social Teaching that proclaims the dignity and rights of all persons to live a quality life as independently as possible, as full partners in the community in which they live.

Presently our Persons with Disabilities services serves 55 residents in two Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) Group homes, four Adult Family Homes, and 12 Supportive Living Apartments. In addition, we provide In-Home Support and Case Management.

The majority of our services provide overnight care to residents. All residents are involved in daytime programs, either in sheltered work programs (Goodwill, Curative, etc.) or mainstream employment (Pizza Hut, Kohl's Department Stores, etc.) or activity and personal enrichment programs (such as St. Anne Intergenerational Center).

In day-to-day support, staff assists residents with meal preparation, cleaning and laundry, personal hygiene and toileting. They also monitor medications, schedule social and religious activities, and schedule and transport residents to all medical and dental appointments. Some staff assist our residents with their finances, banking and shopping.
