Information: Parish liturgical resources on the death of the Pope

The Church has been blessed by the presence and leadership of this great man of history and this great man of God. We need to stop, pray, and consider what has happened and what will occur in the coming days.

Order of Christian Funerals #4

At the death of a Christian, whose life of faith was begun in the waters of baptism and strengthened at the Eucharistic table, the Church intercedes on behalf of the deceased because of its confident belief that death is not the end nor does it break the bonds forged in life. The Church also ministers to the sorrowing and consoles them in the funeral rites with the comforting word of God and the sacrament of the Eucharist.

It is in light of the above quote that the Prayer and Worship Office has produced liturgical suggestions for pastors, liturgical leaders and musicians. We enter into prayer with all Catholics and many other people of good will around the world.

Below you will find two documents, Liturgical Suggestions on the Event of the Death of the Pope and Liturgical Suggestions on the Event of the Election of a new Pope. Each document contains resources and ritual suggestions for the time period that we are now entering.
