Drug Policy Our Mission Statement

Drug decriminalization legislation and soft drug policies put society at risk of drug-related injury, illness, addiction and death. Attempts to soften drug policy will lead to increased addiction and a larger number of youth and young adults experimenting with drugs.

These initiatives and bills (including marijuana as medicine and the like) address protecting the rights, privacy and safety of the user, but that's only part of the issue. The authors of these measures offer no explanation as to how they intend to keep dangerous, addictive drugs and their users from: 1) distributing to minors; 2) driving under the influence; 3) consuming in public places; and 4) endangering others they come in contact with, on the road, in their workplace, etc. These bills intend to criminalize “responsible drug use” only as a status offense.

It's important to know who is behind state measures like so-called medical marijuana and decriminalization attempts. The bulk of the funds and the effort come not from small contributors, lawmakers or a groundswell of public opinion, but from millionaires who are long-time supporters of the drug-legalization movement. State ballot initiatives have been proposed and passed through a major disinformation campaign financed by wealthy individuals, most of whom live outside these states. Groups concerned about the impact of drug legalization on the nation's children have been outspent and out-campaigned by the well-orchestrated effort to legalize drugs on a national basis. These individuals cynically use the suffering and illness of vulnerable people to further their own agenda.

Currently, there are many drug policy bills on state legislative calendars. There are also many states being targeted by drug legalizers through decriminalization initiatives and legislative measures. Keep yourself informed on what's happening in your state, show your support and stop legalization efforts. Choose states on the map to see existing, pending or proposed legislation and elected officials’ contact information.
