Limitation on Post-Doc Status Removed. APS members overwhelming approved the constitutional change to remove the five-year limitation on the post-doc membership category. Previously, post-doc members were required to become regular members after five years. Post-doc members now may remain in the post-doc membership category as long as necessary, provided that a professor or department head verifies their post-doc status on an annual basis. (APS defines Post-Doc status as an individual in a non-faculty status, post-doctoral position, where the position is under the supervision of a faculty member.)
