     Respect Life Educational Sessions
 
  The Office of Catholic Social Action will offer a variety of respect life educational sessions during the Lifelong Faith Formation Conference October 18-20, 2007 at the Country Springs Hotel and Conference Center in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

"Catch Faith Here! Casting Our Nets into the Deep" is the title of the conference which will feature a Friday evening session for young adults, singles, and married couples featuring Bishop Richard J. Sklba and a Saturday morning Mass by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan.

This conference is designed for Catholic school principals and teachers, Directors of Religious Education, Directors of Youth Ministry, Catechists, Adult and Family Ministers, Pastoral Associates, and all parish leaders. Persons interested in Respect Life Ministry are encouraged to attend.

SATURDAY MORNING SCHEDULE

7:30 – 8:30 am Registration and Exhibits

8:30 – 9:15 am Welcome, Prayer and Reflection by Archbishop Dolan

9:30 – 10:45 am "Catholic Social Teaching on Respect Life"
Review the basic principles of Catholic Social Teaching as they relate to Respect Life issues and learn about their practical application.

11:00 – 12:15 pm "Chastity Education for Teens"
Think chastity is outdated? Think again! In this interactive presentation, Mary-Louise Kurey will discuss ways to instill the value of chastity in young people, and will share her experiences bringing this message to more than 200,000 young people in 33 states. She will address what choices teens are making today and what our culture is telling them to do, then discuss ways to effectively present the beautiful teachings of the Church. Finally, she will assess various chastity education resources for religious education and school programs, and discuss what resources have been the most widely used in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

1:00 – 2:00 pm "Human Sexuality and Theology of the Body"
In the context of the Church’s teaching on human sexuality, Pope John Paul did extensive writing on the “Theology of the Body.” This workshop will provide a basic introduction and overview of Theology of the Body as well as provide suggestions for further reflection and study.
