Archives UK (aUK)aUK is a consortium of organisations from the archives and information sector who have agreed to work cooperatively to investigate the possibilities for connecting archives. In particular aUK is examining access to the UK´s archival catalogues through a single search facility. To achieve this goal there are issues which need to be investigated, including varied user needs, compatibility of data exchange and technical infrastructure. To approach this in a structured way the consortium´s objectives have been divided into building blocks:
The aUK Steering Committee will give strategic direction to the programme: this includes identifying areas for development and funding, acting as advocates/champions of aUK and supporting and overseeing development of aUK.
Members of the aUK Steering CommitteeThe Programme Board has representatives from over 20 institutions, covering County Record Offices, metropolitan boroughs, national bodies, specialist repositories and interest groups. aUK welcomes approaches from non-members.
